MGKP: We continue to write with the brave pen of Gurbetelli Ersöz 2021-10-07 13:35:46   DİYARBAKIR -  Stating that women will continue on the path of Gurbetelli, MGKP said, "Women do not compromise from writing the truth against the masculine language of the media."   Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MKGP) made a written statement on the anniversary of the death of Gurbetelli Ersöz, Turkey's first female editor-in-chief, and on October 7, Kurdish Women Journalists' Day. In the statement, it was reminded that the day the editor-in-chief of Özgür Gündem Newspaper, Gurbetelli Ersöz, who pioneered the  the Kurdish women's press and became the first female editor-in-chief in the history of the Turkish press died, was declared as the "Kurdish Women Journalists Day" on October 7, 2014    'SHE ILLUMINATED OUR PATH'   Stating that they proudly carry the legacy of the Kurdish Women Journalists' Day, the statement said, "The legacy that Gurbetelli left on this difficult path illuminates the path of Kurdish women journalists, and makes the determination to struggle under all circumstances once again visible. The struggle of Gurbetelli, who said, "I will make women beautiful by starting from myself" also gives clues about the stage of women's existence in the media from past to present.   WOMEN WILL NOT COMPROMISE   Pointing out that women journalists, fed by the experiences from the past to the future, continue the tradition of free press with agencies, television, radio, newspapers and magazines to reveal the truth, the statement said, "Women who do not drop the pen of Gurbetelli Ersöz, also will not compromise on writing the truth against the masculine language of the media. We celebrate the day of our Kurdish female journalist colleagues who do not give up and pursue the truth despite the policies of oppression, despite detentions, arrests, and we commemorate with gratitude and longing our journalist friends, especially Gurbetelli Ersöz, who sacrificed their lives for this cause without a moment's hesitation.
