Scores of university students detained in Ankara

	ANKARA - A group of students who wanted to organize a forum at Ankara University were subjected to police violence and detained.

	 

	Students wanted to organize a forum on poverty and economic crisis in the canteen of Ankara University (AU) Faculty of Political Sciences. However, the intervened and did not allow the students to do so, claiming that the forum was an "unlawful act".

	 

	The students, on the other hand, stated that they would start the forum despite the threats and sat on the chairs in the canteen. Many students were detained and subjected to violence. The number or names of those detained could not be learned.
