Prisoners are given one bread per day 2022-01-17 14:59:46   VAN - Describing the violations of rights in Antalya Type S Prison, prisoner Harun Ölmez said that they were given one bread and 4 spoons of food a day.   Rights violations against prisoners continue in Antalya Type S Prison. Harun Ölmez, told about the violations of rights in his weekly phone call with his family. Ölmez stated that the prison administration does not take any initiative to solve the problems and said, "The administration refuses to establish dialogue and does not solve the problems we have communicated to them."   ONE BREAD PER DAY   Explaining that political prisoners are held in different wards and corridors, Ölmez explained the violations of rights in prisons as follows: "Some of our friends cannot afford a television and a refrigerator due to their financial situation. They don't even let us underline these issues. Our conversations with our relatives in prison are recorded by the prison administration. All of our social activities are prohibited. We have problem accessing sufficient and healthy food. We were given two loaves of bread a day before but they reduced the weight of the breads. We are not getting enough bread. Prisoners are getting ill due to insufficient and unhealthy food. We rejected food as a protest, but nothing changed."    OUR POWER IS CUT DUE TO OUR DEBT OF BILLS   Underlining that the prison administration cuts off the power due to the debts of bills of the prisoners, Ölmez said: "The amount of money we have to pay for electricity has increased a lot. They threaten to cut the power if we can't pay the electricity bill on time. Not having power in our ward means that we can't cook."   CALL ON HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS   Stating that there are prisoners who are not released despite the fact that they served their time, Ölmez said: "We have been protesting this situation but we could not obtain any results. We call on human's rights defenders and those who believe in democracy to be our voices out there."
