Prisoners are held in cells in Ereğli High Security Prison 2022-09-24 16:09:47 ANKARA - Prisoners held in cells in Konya Ereğli High Security Prison called on MPs to visit the prison in order to remedy the violations.   Violations continue in Konya Eregli High Security Prison. İbrahim Sütcü, one of the prisoners who was transferred from Konya Type T Closed Prison to Ereğli High Security Prison, said in a phone call with his family that they have been held in cells since  August 23.   Sütcü noted that 3 prisoners were brought from Mersin 5 days ago and they were also put in single cells. Stating that they could only get out of the single cells for one hour, Sütçü said that the guards entered the cells during the day and insulted and verbally abused them.   CALL FOR PARLIAMENTARY   Stating that a cell was imposed on Kurdish prisoners in Ereğli Prison, Sütcü said: "They could not meet their basic needs. We called on the MPss to visit the prison in order to investigate the arbitrary practices in the prison. We want to be taken out of these cells and taken to the ward with our friends. We want our basic needs met."   The Mersin branches of the Association for Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), Human Rights Association (İHD) Çukurova Association for Assistance with the Families of Detainees and Convicts (Çukurova TUHAY-DER) announced the report on Konya Ereğli High Security Prison on September 14. In the report, it was stated that they are held in cell, their cells yard is not shared, their cells were located in blocks far from each other, they were not referred to the hospital within the scope of the right to health, they were limited to go to yard 1 hour a day, and they were taken to the yard under isolation conditions, and this is a systematic isolation practice.
