Objection from lawyer to the extension of the detention of Altay for the third time 2023-01-31 16:51:07   ISTANBUL - An objection has been made to the Istanbul Magistrate's Office on Duty to extend the detention period of Yeni Yaşam newspaper employee Rojin Altay for the third time.   The detention period of Yeni Yaşam newspaper employee Rojin Altay, who was detained at Sabiha Gökçen Airport on January 28 as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been extended for the third time today. Lawyers appealed to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty against the extension of the detention period of their clients held in the Istanbul Security Directorate for the third time.   In the appeal, it was stated that the demands of "immediately abolishing the unlawful and unlawful capture, detention, confiscation and restriction practices, and the release of the client and the return of the confiscated personal belongings" were included.   In the appeal petition, it was emphasized that due to the restriction decision regarding the investigation process, access to Altay's file was blocked, that she could not meet with a lawyer in the first 24 hours of his detention, and that these practices were contrary to the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECtHR).
