Şenyaşar family’s fight for justice continues: Meeting with President to be arranged 2024-08-22 15:56:05 ANKARA - Continuing their protest in front of the Parliament, Şenyaşar family stated that their demand for a meeting with AKP Chair and President Erdoğan has been answered, but they will continue their protest as they are not convinced.    Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered and one son was arrested in an attack by the bodyguards and relatives of a former AKP MP in the Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha (Urfa) on June 14, 2018, continued her protest in front of the Parliament.    Ferit Şenyaşar, who sat with his mother on the steps of the Parliament's Gate of Honor with a banner reading “Justice”, said: “A mother is asking for justice. The Ministry of Justice has failed to provide justice. We came to the Parliament so that 'justice' is done in this case. Parliament's job is not only legislating. Parliament's job is to investigate and audit. If the Parliament is sincere about this, it should convene the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission and investigate this massacre. The mother is waiting for the material truth to be revealed.”   RETURN FROM THE PRESIDENCY   Şenyaşar continued as follows: “We want the authorities to do their duty. Today there was a return from the parliamentary administration. They met with an advisor to the President. They said they would arrange a meeting with the President. They conveyed this to us. But this did not convince us. If an appointment is to be arranged, a date must be set. Our action will end when the date is finalized.”    THEY WERE ASKED TO END THE ACTION   As the protest continued, Parliament Secretary General Talip Uzun came to the family and asked them to end the protest. Speaking to Emine Şenyaşar in Kurdish, Uzun tried to persuade her that the protest was damaging their request to meet with AKP Chair and President Tayyip Erdoğan. Uzun then spoke privately with Ferit Şenyaşar and told him that Erdoğan would be in Ankara on Monday and asked them to suspend their protest until Monday. Uzun also stated that they would arrange a meeting with Erdoğan and that they could come and sit down again if it was not arranged.   MOTHER DID NOT GET UP DESPITE INSISTENCE   Despite Uzun, Emine Şenyaşar did not move from her seat. After Uzun's departure, Assembly officials tried to force Emine Şenyaşar and Ferit Şenyaşar to leave their seats. Meanwhile, mother Şenyaşar continued to talk about the massacre. Despite their insistence, mother Şenyaşar did not leave the protest area.
