We must defend democratic system in Rojava says Socialist parties members 2024-12-14 09:59:10 IZMIR - Socialist parties reacting to Turkey's attacks on North and East Syria called on the government to stop the war in Syria and called for a united struggle against the attacks. After the fall of the 61 years Baath regime in Syria, a new era has begun in Syria and North and East Syria. Turkey and Syrian National Army (SNA), which is guided by Turkey, have been carrying out attacks on the regions under the sovereignty of the Autonomous Administration. In recent days, the attacks have intensifies in and around Tishrin, east of Manbij. Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) also resisting the attacks of Turkey and SNA.    Socialist parties in Izmir, Social Freedom Party (TÖP), Labour Movement Party (EHP) and Green Left Party stated that Turkey must stop its attacks and demanded that the status of the Kurdish people be recognised.   'TURKEY IS HOSTILE TO ROJAVA'   TÖP Izmir Provincial Spokesperson Erkan Gökber stated that the Rojava revolution is the best solution for the peoples and drew attention to the fact that Turkey is hostile to this system. "It is not a coincidence that the Rojava revolution and the Rojava system are targeted in order for Turkey and the capitalist system to continue its expansionist ambitions. In this sense, we all know that the Rojava revolution is of great importance. Standing by its side is important for the socialists of Turkey. It is important to defend the system in Rojava for both Turkey and the peoples of the Middle East," he said.    'WE MUST INCREASE THE UNITED STRUGGLE'   Stressed that Turkey's internal and external policies to not recognise the will of the Kurds have reached a dead end Gökber said: "When we look at these policies in Syria, the target is the system in Rojava. The organized power of the Kurdish people in the Middle East and Syria and the democratic alternative they present in the region offer an option to democratic future of the peoples. In this respect, the most consistent and reliable ground is the alternative system created by the Kurdish freedom movement, especially in Roajava."   Calling for support for the Kurds in North and East Syria Gökber said the following: "As the peoples of Turkey, we need to stand by the Kurdish people. We need to increase the united struggle. It is one of the tasks ahead of us to unite the struggle for labour and freedom."    'WE DO NOT ACCEPT ATTACKS ON THE KURDS'   Hilal Susuz, Izmir Provincial Executive of the Labour Movement Party (EHP), called on Turkey to immediately give up its attacks on North and East Syria and stressed that socialists should increase solidarity to defend the brotherhood of peoples. Hilal Susuz said: "Turkey, seeing the developments in Syria as an opportunity, is attacking the Kurds. We do not accept that Turkey sees these developments in the Middle East as an opportunity for itself.  There is an order created by the Kurdish people in their own land. As socialists, we must defend the democratic order developed by the Kurdish people in Rojava. We defend the full independence and equality of Syria."   'MUST STOP THE WAR, ENSURE PEACE'   Green Left Party Izmir Provincial Co-Spokesperson Kenan Işık stated that all democratic mass organisations must take a stand in favour of the peace of the peoples in Syria and said: "All groups and peoples should make efforts to build a democratic and free Syria where they can live freely. For this reason, Turkey's attacks on Rojava are unacceptable. These attacks must stop immediately. Everyone who wants peace in the world must stand against the attacks on North and East Syria. It is necessary to defend peace, to take a stand in favour of a democratic solution in Syria and to make a voice for all imperialist states to get out of Syria."   Criticising Turkey's Middle East policy, Işık noted that these policies are not in favour of peace and said the following: "It is known how ISIS committed massacres in Syria in the past. While getting rid of one dictatorship, we should not fall into another dictatorship. Turkey and other imperialist states should leave Syria. In Syria, Kurdish-hostile policies are being pursued that pit peoples against each other. This policy must end as soon as possible. Turkey should stop the war in Syria and ensure peace."
