Prisoner with heart disease: No medication, left to die 2025-01-14 15:18:07   COLEMÊRG - Prisoner Kenan Kaya, who had a heart attack twice in prison, said that he was not given his medication and he is "left to die".   Kenan Kaya, who was an executive of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Colemêrg (Hakkari) Provincial Organisation for a while, was detained and arrested on 25 October 2022 at his home in Izmir, after his sentence for "membership in an illegal organization" was upheld. Kaya was held in Izmir Buca Type S Closed Prison for a while and then transferred to Kavak Type S Closed Prison in Samsun. Kaya had two heart attacks during his imprisonment. Kaya recently underwent angioplasty at a private hospital after his relatives covered the costs. Kaya has been receiving medication in prison since 29 April 2024.   Today, after the meeting family members said, "Kenan said in the meeting that his condition is very serious and that he had run out of medication. Despite 2 weeks of petitioning, he said that his medication was not taken and that they are left to die. Kenan also said that he had severe heart pain in the morning and that he was not taken to hospital despite this."   Family members stated that they were worried about the condition of their relatives and called for sensitivity.
