MED TUHAD-FED called on everyone to unite around Öcalan's call 2025-03-04 15:41:49   AMED - Making a statement on Abdullah Öcalan's call, MED TUHAD-FED said, "We invite everyone to unite around this call."   Mezopotamya Federation of Legal Solidarity Associations of Families of Prisoners and Convicts (MED TUHAD-FED) made a statement regarding the call made by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February. The statement made at the premises of the association was attended by members of the Peace Mothers' Assembly, Association for Assistance with Prisoners' Families (TUAY-DER), Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) and relatives of prisoners. Making the statement, MED TUHAD-FED Co-chair Pınar Sakık Tekin said that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" is of historical importance.   Pointing out the importance of the call, Pınar Sakık Tekin said, "This historically important statement of Mr Abdullah Öcalan is the will to establish a new equation against global developments and regional wars and to lead the struggle for democracy. With his call for Peace and Democratic Society, he called for a democratic life for the Kurdish people and the peoples of the region."   Stating that the call is also about building a society where women and peoples can live freely and defend their rights, Pınar Tekin added, "Under the influence of the war and destruction that shakes the Middle East and our region from all four sides, it is the hope of a new peace for all the peoples of the region and the insistence on the philosophy of life in the face of death. We state that we support the call of the century made by Mr Öcalan. And we need to act with the awareness that we are both the subject of this historic call and that we are obliged to do whatever duty we have to do. Being witnesses of this conflicted process that has been going on for nearly forty years, we support the call of the century together with MED TUHAD-FED and its associations, representative offices and all our families. We call for Mr Abdullah Öcalan's free work and physical freedom conditions to be provided as soon as possible, and we know that defending peace is more troublesome than fighting. For this reason, we invite everyone to unite around this call."
