Conspiracy protests: Freedom of Ocalan will be most concrete step for peace 2025-10-09 16:26:29   NEWS CENTER - In the demonstrations held in many cities against the 9 October conspiracy, it was stated that it was necessary to raise the voice of freedom against the conspiracy and said, "Öcalan's freedom will be the most concrete step for the peace, democratic present and future of the peoples."    Democratic Institutions Platform (DEKUP) organised demonstrations in many cities with the slogan "Bi rêbertîya azad ber bi ciwaka azad ve (With free Leader to free society)" on the anniversary of 9 October, the beginning of the international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   A joint text was read out during the demonstrations in Agırî (Ağrı), Erzirom (Erzurum), Îdir (Iğdır), Adana, Êlih (Batman), Dêrsim (Tunceli), Çewlîg (Bingöl), Xarpêt (Elazığ). In the joint text, it was stated that the date 9 October 1998 was not only a conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan, but also the milestone of a comprehensive attack on the Kurdish and Middle Eastern peoples' hope for peace.    In the statements, it was stated that this conspiracy was an international operation planned against the Kurdish people's will for freedom and against an idea that could pioneer democratic transformation in the Middle East, and it was emphasised that the reason for this operation was Öcalan's solution perspective for an equal and free life.    The statement emphasised that heavy isolation conditions have been maintained in İmralı for 26 years, and noted that Öcalan has nevertheless defeated the conspiracy by maintaining a resistance. The Kurdish people have been subjected to policies of denial and annihilation for more than a century, the statement said: "The emergence of Mr Öcalan on the stage of history is the seal of a people's ‘we exist’ on this chain of ignorance. The historical stage that the Kurdish people have reached with 52 years of struggle for freedom has created a period in which no power can say 'there are no Kurds'."   'LET'S RAISE THE VOICE OF PEACE'   The statement emphasised that the isolation is not only an attack against one person but also an attack against the peoples' hope for peace and underlined that Öcalan's physical freedom is an indispensable necessity for the democratic present and future of the peoples in Turkey.    It was emphasised that the campaign initiated by Kurds and their friends around the world has completed its second year and that the campaign to ensure Öcalan's physical freedom has grown.    "We, as part of this historical campaign, are determined to increase the struggle of all the peoples of Turkey and all the forces of democracy," it was stated.    Saying that capitalist nation-states could not end Mr Öcalan's struggle and that this struggle is supported by thousands of people around the world, the statement reads: "Mr Öcalan's freedom will be the most concrete step for the peace, democratic present and future of the peoples. As we raise our voices against the conspiracy, let us raise the voice of freedom and peace together."
