Visit to condolence gathering for the murdered prisoner Taşar 2026-03-28 19:04:04   ÊLIH – The condolence gathering set up in Tilmerc Neighbourhood for the murdered ill prisoner Mehmet Edip Taşar was visited by large numbers of people.   Despite appeals, the seriously ill prisoner Mehmet Edip Taşar, who was not released and passed away on 24 March at the Çam ve Sakura City Hospital where he was receiving treatment, was the subject of a mass visit to the condolence gathering set up in the Tilmer neighbourhood of Êlih (Batman) town centre.    The condolence gathering was attended by representatives of the Association for Mutual Aid Among Families of Detainees (TUAY-DER), the Association for Mutual Aid, Solidarity, Unity and Culture Among Families Who Have Lost Loved Ones in the Cradle of Civilisations (MEBYA-DER), political parties and civil society organisations, as well as a large number of people.   Mervan Taşar, the brother of Taşar, who spoke next, said that although he was saddened by the loss of his brother, he remained just as resolute. Taşar stated, “The martyr is not just our family’s martyr, but the martyr of all Kurds and Kurdistan.”
