ANKARA – Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party deputies protested in parliament the attacks carried out by the Syrian Transitional Government against Kurdish neighborhoods.

The Parliamentary Group of the DEM Party protested during the General Assembly session against the attacks carried out by groups affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government targeting the Eşrefiyê (Ashrafieh), Şêxmeqsûd (Sheikh Maqsoud), and Benî Zeyd (Beni Zaid) neighborhoods of Aleppo.

DEM Party deputies placed placards on their seats reading: “No to the massacre in Aleppo,” “Long live the resistance of the Kurdish people,” and “Ashrafieh, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Beni Zaid are not alone.”

Taking the floor afterward, DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli said: “There is a massacre in Aleppo. I call on the parliament to be sensitive to this massacre. It is a responsibility of this Assembly to take a decision and condemn this massacre, which constitutes a crime against humanity. I invite all political parties to fulfill this responsibility.”

Deputies reacted with applause and slogans.

As the protest continued, the parliamentary session was suspended.
