WAN - Author Nizam Karaağar stated that a “Crusader Alliance” has been formed against the Kurds in the Middle East through the hands of Unionists, emphasizing that no power can defeat the Kurds. He said, “Kurds are decision-makers in all four parts. We have the power to transform all systems.”
Kurds have been standing up for days in many centers around the world and in the four parts of Kurdistan against the attacks on Rojava by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), ISIS, and Turkey-backed paramilitary groups. As the Middle East once again approaches a historic turning point, Kurdistan is at the center of a new design project imposed on the region by hegemonic powers. Author Nizam Karaağar was released after spending 30 years in prison. He spoken about the Syrian situation, the position of the Kurds, Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan's model for a solution in Syria, and the argument that “the Kurds do not want a state.”
‘SYRIA IS A DECISIVE GEOGRAPHY OF THE MIDDLE EAST’
Karaağar stated that Syria has been a decisive geography from the earliest period of written history to the present day, not only for the Kurds but for all powers in the region, saying: "Which regime or system will prevail in Syria is not a matter for today. Even the first known treaty, the Treaty of Kadesh, was made over the Syrian issue. Therefore, what happens in Syria determines the fate of the entire Middle East. From the beginning, Leader Apo's assessments of Syria, the role he attributed to it, and the project he proposed for the country's construction were essentially a prototype for a project aimed at the Middle East as a whole.Syria is the most rigid place in terms of the denial of the Kurds, but it is also a place that has played a long-standing ‘rear front’ role in the Kurdish movement's process of self-assertion. It is also an important part of Kurdish culture, music, and literature. If you pay attention, that there has been a greater accumulation of international systems in Syria than in Iraq. Almost every country has entered Syria. In the Iraq issue, many countries especially Israel did not play such an active role; however, in Syria, all known world powers tried to exert influence.”
‘WE PRESENTED A KEY SOLUTION TO THE MIDDLE EASTERN DEADLOCK’
Karaağar points out that the Kurds have produced a paradigm at the intersection of historical accumulations, stating, "Syria is one of the defining geographical areas of pre-Islamic history, as all areas of conflict during the Islamic period were centered in Syria. Therefore, based on the current atmosphere and circumstances, the system that the Leader Apo wants to build there is actually the key to unraveling the Middle East's deadlock. We are people who know the field, Arab sociology, and even the history of every tribe there, both as a movement and as friends who are there. Because our movement largely took shape there; we are not foreigners or newcomers there. What we aimed to achieve there was a key solution to the Middle Eastern deadlock. If the program and project referred to in the manifesto as the Kurdish solution and Kurdish ideology could have been realized there, it would have been a great gain for the peoples of the Middle East. Imagine; you are establishing a system where Shias, Sunnis, Muslims, Christians, Jews, women, men, Kurds, Turks, Arabs, and Turkmens can come together for the first time. In the current Middle Eastern hell, this may seem utopian, but it was actually realized in Rojava.”
‘THE U.S. SAVED ITS HONOR THANKS TO THE KURDS’
Karaağar, who said this dream came to life in Rojava, continued: “This was not achieved at a table or through any agreement, as some might think. It emerged through the practical experience of more than 14 thousand Kurdish women and men in Kobanê, who inspired the entire world. No one granted us anything in Syria; all gains are entirely the Kurds’ own achievements. For example, after winning World War II, the U.S. went to many regions of the world and was not defeated in only two places: Iraq Kurdistan and Rojava. The reason for not being defeated there is, of course, the Kurds. Despite its immense power, the US was forced to withdraw from Vietnam and Afghanistan. ISIS destroyed three states in one week but got stuck in Kobanê. So the U.S. saved its honor after World War II thanks to the Kurds. All coalition forces say, ‘We saved the Kurds,’ but the truth is that the Kurds saved the entire world from these barbarians. Therefore, the whole world owes the Kurds.”
‘THE KURDS SAVED THE WORLD FROM THE GREATEST DISASTER’
Karaağar stated that Kurds achieved something no one else had since World War II and saved the world from a great catastrophe: "The Soviet Union, the United States, and Britain were only able to achieve success after fighting for four years to rid themselves of the Nazi scourge. ISIS was more terrifying than the Nazis, and it was stopped thanks to the Kurds. If a history of Kurdistan is to be written—our last 15 years of a 50-year history are extraordinary—we are a people who saved the world from the greatest disaster after the Nazis. They became allies with us because of our strength, struggle, and resistance. No one allied with the Kurds for oil; there is no oil in Kobanê. Therefore, those who evaluate Kurdish power and resistance must speak with more respect and historical awareness.”
’RESPONSE TO ALLIANCE CRITICISMS’
Addressing debates that Kurds either formed alliances with various structures and failed to become a state or were deceived, Karaağar asked: “In the Fifth Defense, Leader Apo explains that Kurds who engage in politics without knowing geography and Kurdish sociology cannot do politics. He even says, ‘If you don't have experience in that area, don't get involved in politics. Some people now say, Kurds are not smart; they don’t form good alliances. I'm telling this to both the well-intentioned and the ill-intentioned: 220 years have passed since the 1806 Baban Rebellion, and we have been fighting for 220 years. Greeks fought for five years and got a state; Serbs fought for two or three years and got a state. Albanians fought a few years and got a state. Arabs did not fight at all; promises were made to Sharif Hussein, and many Arab states were established. To Kurdish intellectuals I ask: you have many criticisms, claims, even slanders. But tell me—haven’t Kurds been fighting for 220 years? Why didn’t they get a state? It’s said we didn’t conduct diplomacy. Well, during the Bedirhan Rebellion, there was the Mehmet Ali Pasha rebellion in Egypt. Didn't France intervene and liberate that region from the Ottomans, establishing a state there? So why didn't they do the same for Bedirhan, who was their ally?
’LEADER APO FORESEED TODAY IN 2009’
Karaağar, who continues to respond to discussions and criticisms, said: “This geography is destiny. It is not an ordinary place; whoever wants power and influence in the world comes here. Alexandros, Sanjar, when Islam began to gain power, came here; the Turks and Turans wanted to gain power, so they came her. Is there another geography like this? Kurds have been fighting, organizing, and building armies since 1806 but have not become a state. Those who react to us are merely reacting instead of developing a perspective based on this sociology and history. If we produce politics without knowing this geography and sociology, we harm ourselves. Leader Apo made a very important observation in his 5th Defense in 2009, even before the Arab Spring had begun: “The geopolitical center of the world revolution has shifted; it is no longer Paris or London; it is now Amed, Erbil, Baghdad, and Tehran. Today, If there is a Christian-Islamic war and a rich-poor debate in the world, this is where it is centered. Politics should be conducted according to this reality.
’EVERYONE CAME AND LEFT, BUT WE KURDS ARE STILL HERE’
Karaağar, who says that the Kurds are the oldest and most settled people in Mesopotamia, said, “Saddam massacred Kurds and ended up captured in a pit. Assad tried to discipline Kurds with ISIS but fled without even protecting his father’s grave. Kurds are still here and alive. Kurds influenced by colonial psychology do us injustice. Where are those who built great empires? We are still in our place. We are the owners of this space and time. From northern Egypt to Sivas, to Efrin, 40–50 million Kurds stand with their language and land. They may kill 30,000 people in Kobanê, inflict great pain on us, but they cannot defeat us. Those who try will either be caught in a pit or flee without guarding their parents’ graves. Politicians should look at and read their own history, not social media analyses.”
’THE MOST KURDISTANI MANIFESTO IS THE FEBRUARY 27 MANIFESTO’
Referring to Abdullah Öcalan's “Sociology of Freedom” paradigm, Karaağar pointed out that it offers a recipe for liberation, saying: “Kurds are decision-makers in all four parts. Whether a system is established in Syria depends on us. We are decisive in Iraq, Rojhilat, and Turkey. We have the power to transform all systems. Transitioning from a ‘sociology of death’ to a ‘sociology of freedom’ is not romanticism; it is as vital as bread and water. While we have the power to transform Kurdish history, this manifesto is under great pressure. To Kurdish nationalist friends: among our manifestos, the most Kurdistani one is the February 27 manifesto. Some say ‘There is no Kurdishness in it,’ but Kurdishness is embedded in the entire foundation and liberation process. This manifesto presents Kurdishness as both a founding and a liberating ideology.”
’A CRUSADER ALLIANCE HAS BEEN FORMED AGAINST THE KURDS’
Karaağar stated that the Kurds were the first people to embrace Islam after the Arabs, but that today a “Crusader alliance” has been formed against the Kurds. He concluded: “Kurds are a people who believed in the truth and word of the Prophet. Kurds are the only people who did not sacrifice Islam to fratricide, profit, and state brutality. Today, they betray this people. They destroy the graves of this people’s children. From whom did you learn this Islam? You may learn Islam from Jolani or Baghdadi, but we learned it from the Prophet. You are Unionists. We will suffer greatly, we will be struck down many times; this is not our choice. But no matter what happens, we are here to stay. Many tried before you, but we are still here. While you crumbled before the West, the Ayyubids, descendants of Saladin, saved your honor in the Middle East. Look at what you are doing to his children now! A Crusader alliance is being formed in the Middle East against the Kurds through the hands of Unionists. You call yourselves ‘national and local,’ and we are called ‘co-conspirator’? At the end of the day, it will become clear who is who."
