NEWS CENTER - SOHR reported that Turkish forces had withdrawn from Jalbara village in Afrin which they had occupied for more than eight years and turned into a military base. 

 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Turkish forces had withdrawn from Jalbara (Cilbirê) village in Afrin, which Turkey had occupied in 2018. According to local sources cited by SOHR, vehicles belonging to Internal Security Forces of the Syrian interim government entered the village following the withdrawal. The forces began clearing the area and checking for landmines and war remnants. 

 

MOST HOUSES DESTROYED

 

SOHR reported that most of the buildings in Jalbara, a village with more than 70 houses, were partially or completely destroyed by bombardment. It noted that the village had turned into a frontline over the years, with repeated shelling causing damage to homes and property. SOHR said that after more than eight years of occupation, residents are waiting to return to their homes and recover their belongings, but concerns remain over the risk posed by landmines and war remnants.
