Letter from Germany to Erdoğan: Release Fincancı 2022-11-08 12:00:00   NEWS CENTER - The German Medical Association has sent a letter to President Erdoğan demanding the release of TTB President Şebnem Korur Fincancı, who was arrested for her assessments on chemical weapons attacks.   German Medical Association Dr. Klaus Reinhardt sent a letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, calling for the release of Turkish Medical Association Şebnem Korur Fincancı, who was arrested for her assessments of Turkey's chemical weapons attacks on Southern Kurdistan.   Stating that Fincancı's arrest amounted to an attack on both the right to freedom of expression and the self-management of the professional association of physicians, Reinhardt reminded that physicians dedicate themselves to public health and therefore it is the duty of every physician to bring human rights violations to the agenda. Reinhardt emphasized that Fincancı's physician and human rights defender identities are inextricably linked to eachother.   The letter also included the statements and messages of the Berlin, Hessen and Hamburg medical unions, the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), the Democratic Medical Association (VDAA), and the physician and medical students' union The Marburger Bund, calling for Fincancı's immediate release.
