	The health condition of Ekim Polat, a seriously ill prisoner held in Denizli Type T Closed Prison, is getting worse day by day. The sit-in protest started by Polat's mother, Songül İlker, in front of Denizli Type T Prison for the treatment of her son, continues on its third day.

	Stating that her son's treatment is prevented and so he started on a hunger strike against it and pointing out that her son's hunger strike continues on the 15th day, İlker said: I will also continue the sit-in in front of the prison."

	Saying that all sensitive groups should be the voice of ill prisoners, mother İlker said: “Everyone needs to support and take responsibility. Everyone should be the voice of ill prisoners until the barriers to the treatment of ill prisoners are removed.”

	BACKROUND

	&nbsp;

	Ekim Polat, who was arrested on charges of "being of member of a terrorist organisation" on the grounds of "anonymous witness" statements in the Gezi Park events in Istanbul in 2016, was sentenced to 24 years in prison. Polat, who did not have any health problems before entering the prison, developed life-threatening diseases such as heart rhythm disorder, COPD, osteoporosis, tumors, hypertension, visual impairment, cancer and high paralysis during his 6-year detention period. Polat's right to treatment has been blocked for 4 months. Polat was exiled first to Silivri No. 5 Type L Closed Prison, then to Bandırma, Manisa Akhisar Type T Closed Prison, and finally to Denizli Type T Closed Prison.
