Journalist Ziya Ataman: We are under heavy isolation 2023-03-31 16:54:24   ERZURUM - Journalist Ziya Ataman, who is held in Dumlu High Security Prison No. 2, reported that they are under heavy isolation.   Ziya Ataman, a reporter for Dicle News Agency (DIHA), which was closed with a Decree-Law, wrote a letter to the Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) from Dumlu No. 2 High Security Prison and told about the problems he experienced.   'THERE IS A HEAVY ISOLATION POLICY'   Ataman wrote his letter as the following:, “The purpose of my writing to you is because of the violations of rights that could be heard although we have told many times. As you know, this newly created prison system is a violation of rights in every aspect. I'm about to complete my 7 months in this anti-human place. Sometimes I remember that I am human through my reflection in the mirror. Although it has been said that it will be a place to host those who are heavily convicted and those who have come to the fore with their resounding cases, they keep those who are still on trial or who are convicted (with the status of being in prison) here despite their statements (most of them are on temporary sentences.) We are faced with a heavy isolation policy. "   'WE DON'T SEE THE SUN'   Stating that they do not see the sun, Ataman said: "We do not see the sun. While we await improvements, our yard hours are being reduced; Our existing order and peace are disturbed by searches made every week; There is a discussion with the ideological approach of some personnel and a report is kept; The Management Monitoring Board forgets that we exist; administrators refuse most of our demands. And while this is happening, no reason is offered. No doors open. We hope to benefit from the opened doors. We make our voice heard, but no one hears. And these are just a few negative ones.”   'I WANTED MY VOICE TO BE HEARD'   Ataman concluded his letter as follows: “Dear colleagues, I am aware that I am writing to you during a busy period. However, the intense feeling of loneliness and helplessness that is intended to be imposed on us will not be able to interfere with my conscience, my honor and my natural right, nor will it affect me. I wanted to make my voice heard once again. I greet you from my cage-like cell of five steps. Stay well, I wish you good luck."
