Journalist Tosun found beaten on the roadside 2025-10-12 13:47:40   ISTANBUL - Journalist and documentary director Hakan Tosun, who had not been heard from since the night of 10 October, was found beaten on the roadside. Tosun, who was stated to have had a brain haemorrhage, was taken under treatment in the intensive care unit.    Tosun, who was beaten by a person or persons whose identity has not yet been determined, was taken to hospital. Tosun had a brain haemorrhage, was unconscious and was taken under treatment at Çam ve Sakura City Hospital in Başakşehir, Istanbul. Tosun's treatment continues in the intensive care unit.    WHO IS HAKAN TOSUN?   Tosun was born in 1975 in Istanbul. Tosun started his career as a technical consultant in 1993 when private radios started broadcasting. In 1998, he moved to Izmir, where he worked as a news montage operator for various private television channels. Since 2009, Tosun has concentrated on documentary production and is known for his independent productions on nature, urban struggle and social events. He has produced important documentaries such as "Towards the Roofs", "Tekel Workers", "Great Anatolian March", "Gentrification" and "Validebağ Resistance". Tosun, who maintains his identity as an independent journalist, also works as a director in the production company "Nature and Urban Activism Documentary".
