ISTANBUL - ISIG announced that at least 2 thousand 728 young people lost their lives in workplace homicides in 12 years. 

 

Occupational Health and Safety Assembly (ISIG) announced the "Young Workers Workplace Homicides" report for the first 4 months of 2013 and 2025. According to the report, at least 2 thousand 728 young people lost their lives in workplace homicides in the said period. 

 

In the report, it was stated that 222 people were 18 years old, one thousand 214 people were between the ages of 19-22 and one thousand 292 people were between the ages of 23-25. It was shared that 284 of the young people who lost their lives were refugees or migrants. 

 

According to the "deaths by sector" section of the report, the construction sector had the highest percentage of young workers with 26 per cent, while the metal sector had the lowest percentage with 6 per cent. According to the "causes of death" section of the report, 24 per cent of young people lost their lives in traffic accidents, 16 per cent due to falls from height and 15 per cent due to crushing/falling.

 

In the report, it was stated that most of the deaths occurred in Istanbul, Antalya, Konya, Izmir and Ankara.
