Traveling by cars and buses, the citizens reached Afrin in the early morning hours after passing through Raqqa, Tabqa, and Aleppo, accompanied by the Afrin–Shehla Migrants Council and Syrian Civil Defense teams.
After eight years of forced displacement, the citizens who reached their city were welcomed with drums, zurna, traditional dances and great enthusiasm.
Mahmud Xelil, who accompanied the citizens on the journey, stated that after the establishment of a safe corridor, the first group would depart within three days and that the remaining residents of Afrin would return by Newroz.
