NEWS CENTER - 4,206 people have been killed in identity-based attacks in Syria since fall of Assad regime. 

 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has released a report documenting by name 4,206 people killed in identity-based attacks and extrajudicial executions between December 8, 2024, when the Assad regime fell, and August 10, 2026.

 

According to report published by SOHR, 160 people, including one woman, were killed between December 8 and 31, 2024. Of those killed, 106 were from the Alawite community. The report recorded 3,918 deaths in 2025 and 128 in 2026, including 10 women and five children. 

 

63 MASSACRES IN THE COASTAL REGION

 

A total of 63 massacres were carried out during the attacks began in Syria’s coastal cities on March 6, 2025. SOHR reported that 1,638 civilians were killed between March 6 and November 24, including 873 in Latakia, 525 in Tartus, 272 in Hama and 13 in Homs. 

 

998 KILLED IN AL-SUWAIDAA

 

A total of 998 people, 971 of them Druze, were killed in attacks in Al-Suwaidaa in July 2025. In may 2025, 36 civilians, most of them Druze, were killed in incidents in Sahnaya, Ashrafiyat Sahnaya and Jaramana. The report also said that 1,201 people, including 41 women and 23 children, were killed in separate attacks during the same period. Of those killed, 554 were Alawites, 50 were Shiites, 19 were Druze and 578 belonged to other communities. 

 

In its report, SOHR called for independent and transparent investigations into all the massacres. It urged the relevant authorities to carry out the investigations, determine the fate of those missing, locate burial sites and return the remains to their families.
