AMED – The body of Kurdish poet Ehmed Huseynî, who passed away in Switzerland on March 10, will be brought to Amed (Diyarbakır) and, following a ceremony there, will be sent off to Rojava.
Ehmed Huseynî, who died in a hospital in Switzerland where he had been receiving cancer treatment, will be brought to Amed tonight. Language, institute, literature, and cultural institutions, as well as PENa Kurd, Amed Metropolitan Municipality, and the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, will organize a ceremony for him.
Huseynî’s body will be taken to the ÇandAmed Congress Center, where a ceremony will be held tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. After the ceremony, he will be sent to Rojava via the Habur Border Gate.
ABOUT EHMED HUSEYNÎ
Ehmed Huseynî was born in 1955 in the city of Amûdê, in North and East Syria. He completed his primary education there and later went to Damascus for university, where he studied philosophy. However, the regime did not allow him to use his diploma. In 1989, he was forced to migrate to Switzerland.
Throughout his life, Huseynî was engaged in poetry and literature and produced many programs, especially for ROJ TV. He left behind more than 15 works in Kurdish literature.
