NEWS CENTER - Ahead of the expected submission of the proposed framework law to Parliament, political parties engaged in a round of consultations. The AKP first met with the DEM Party, followed by MHP.

 

Political parties held talks in Parliament on Tuesday evening over the proposed framework law. AKP Parliamentary Group Chair Abdullah Güler and Deputy Parliamentary Group Chair Abdulhamit Gül met for around two and a half hours with DEM Party İmralı Delegation member and Asrın Law Office lawyer Özgür Faik Erol, the Party’s Deputy Co-Chair Öztürk Türdoğan, HDK Co-Spokeperson Meral Danış Beştaş and Şirnex MP Nevroz Uysal. The meeting reportedly included a briefing on the draft law. No statement was made to reporters afterward. Asked about the meeting, HDK Co-Spokesperson Meral Danış Beştaş said, “Everything is already in the press.”

 

After its meeting with the DEM Party, the AKP delegation met with MHP Deputy Chair for Legal Affairs Feti Yıldız. Speaking to reporters afterward, Yıldız said, “We are in agreement. There are no problems.”

 

The AKP delegation also held a one hour meeting with HÜDA PAR MPs. It was also reported that the party met on Tuesday with representatives of the New Party (Yeni Parti), the CHP, and the New Path (Yeni Yol).

 

‘DRAFT EXPECTED TO BE SUBMITTED ON WEDNESDAY’

 

Following the talks with political parties, the proposed framework law is expected to be submitted to Parliament on Wednesday. It is also expected to be brought before the General Assembly later this week.

 

CRITICAL MEETING HELD A DAY EARLIER

 

According to Hürriyet, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş met on 3 August with AKP Deputy Group Chair Efkan Ala, Parliamentary Group Chair Abdullah Güler and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik to discuss the framework law. The report said that DEM Party İmralı Delegation members Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar also joined part of the meeting.
