NEWS CENTER – At least 544 protesters have been killed in protests entering their 16th day in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan.

Protests that began across Iran on 28 December 2025 continue into their 16th day. It is reported that forces loyal to the Iranian regime and the Revolutionary Guards are using tear gas and direct firearms to suppress the protests.

So far, 45 universities have announced their support for the protests, which have spread to 31 cities, 186 districts and 585 towns in Iran and Rojhilat.

Iranian state television broadcast images of 96 protesters who were forced to admit that the protests were an "uprising". The regime forces' arrests and detentions have not been limited to the protests and streets; many people have been summoned to security centres to give statements.

The bodies of approximately 250 protesters killed by Iranian regime forces are being held at the Kehriz Forensic Medicine Centre in Tehran. Families are visiting the centre to identify the bodies.

The on-going internet blackout, now in its third day, is fuelling concerns that the regime is escalating its violence against the protests.  Internet monitoring group NetBlocks stated that Iran's connection to the outside world had been reduced to 1 per cent.
