URFA -  Peace mothers who were released after 9 days of detention in Urfa stated that they were accused of going to people's houses to offer their condolences and emphasized that they will continue the fight for peace for the mothers who died longing for peace.

Peace Mothers Hadle Oğur, Fatma Akbaş, Adalet Çay and Meyaser Kokmaz who were detained with 8 people during raids on their homes in Urfa on October 6, were released by the court 9 days later. 3 Peace Mothers will go to the police station 3 times a week and sign documents in accordance with the judicial control measures. Peace Mother Adalet Çay will remain at home due to the home arrest she was sentenced to. Peace Mothers Hadle Oğur and Meyaser Korkmaz who have been detained dozens of times, spoke about their 8 days in detention.

Stating that she has been through a lot in her life time because of the state, Hadle Oğur (49) told that they were either detained of arrested every time they spoke about peace. Stating that she had been detained 5 times until now, Oğur said, "I was arrested because I joined the hunger strike from outside. I was held in prison for 7 months. I continued the hunger stike in prison. In the face of all oppression imposed on us, we kept calling for peace. We were always targeted for wanting peace. They come and detain us every time, and keep us detained for 10- 15 days and then they release us. They ask me if I am scared to die. They either detain me or one of my kids. Once I was detained with my husband. They are constantly following us. They take our photos working in our field. We don't care anymore."

Underlining that the only wish of the Peace Mothers is peace, Oğur said the war must be ended. Pointing out that the most natural wish of a mother is to want peace, Oğur said: "Mothers have lost their children. I gave everything. We gave our most precious most loved to the death. We have suffered a lot. We don't want other mothers to go through what we have gone through. We will not surrender. I was in detention for 9 days. They asked me why did I visit a house to offer my condolences for a mother who died in prison. How is offering condolences to the family who lost their loved one is a crime? They should be ashamed of themselves. 15 Peace Mothers have died so far. They told me to visit their graves and tell them when peace comes. I feel ashamed everytime I visit their graves. They lost thier lives longing for peace. We are fighting to get that peace."

49 year old Peace Mother Meyaser Korkmaz said it is very precious to be in the struggle for peace. Korkmaz said: "Being a Peace Mother is an honour. Peace Mothers can not even hurt a fly. They just want the blood and tears to end. This is my only objective. I have been detained three times in that period. I have been summoned to the police station to give my statement dozens of times. Once I was detained for 25 days. They ask us why we went to people's houses to pay our respects, offer our condolences. This is a very humanitarian duty and its a part of our culture. My mother was also a Peace Mother. She said with her dying breathe that we should pick up where she left off. She died longing for peace. She hasn't seen any peace. I will never forget her dying breathe. We will fight for peace as long as we can."
