VAN - A law suit was filed against journalist Nazan Sala for allegedly being a reporter at ROJ TV as a result of an investigation launched 12 years ago.
While Roj TV broadcasting via satallite with a licence from Denmark was closed down after a law suit concluded in 2012, Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a new investigation against Nazan Sala whose name was on the minutes of the investigation ended in non-prosecution in 2021. The indictment prepared by the Prosecutor's Office on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization" was accepted by the Van 5th High Criminal Court.
ROJ TV REPORTER
In the indictment, it was alleged that ROJ TV was the media outlet of the PKK-KCK and that it was propagandizing a terrorist organisation, and that journalist Nazan Sala participated in the the crime by working as a reporter for ROJ TV in Van. The fact that the date of crime was noted as 2017 attracted attention since the television was closed at the time.
HELICOPTER CASE
The prosecutor requested that the case be merged with the helicopter case, which was filed against 5 journalists, including Nazan Sala, who broke the story of Servet Turgut and Osman Şiban who were thrown out of a military helicopter in Van.The five journalists are on trial for that case with the accusation of 'being a member of a terrorist organisation' and 'propagandising a terrorist organisation'.
TWO FILES WERE MERGED
Accepting the indictment, the Van 5th High Criminal Court decided to merge the two files on the grounds that there was a personal, legal and factual connection.
