DİYARBAKIR- Stagin a sit-in protest in front of the ATK, which garnered condemnations with its reports on ill prisoners, relatives of the prisoners said: "We are insistent on our demands. This problem is not just ours, it is a social problem."

The Justice Watch demonstration, launched for the freedom of the ill prisoners and the prisoners who are held despite they served their sentence, is on its 184th day in Diyarbakır. Relatives of the prisoners gathered in front of the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) building once again today. Med Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations with the Families of prisoners and Convicts (MED TUHAD-FED),  Çukurova Association for Assistance with the Families of Detainees and Convicts (TUAY-DER), Mesopotamia Language and Culture Research Association (MED-DER),  Association for Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and Members of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) participated in the press release.

CALL FOR SOLUTION

In the statement where the slogans "Rights, law, justice" and "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live the dungeon resistance)" were shouted frequently, a prisoner's relative Herdem Merwani said: "We have been staging this sit-in for 7 months. We are fighting for all prisoners, and appealed to the public's conscience and started our demonstration for all of them; however, the expected support has not yet been given. Some prisoners were released. But a solution has not been developed for our relatives. We repeat our demands, we insist on these demands."

Pointing out that the prisoners were released when they came face to face with death and unfortunatelly their treatment could not be done either, Merwanî said: "We are tired, but we will always repeat our demands. Whatever needed to be done must be done today, because the ill-prisoners are getting worse day by day. My father's condition is not good either. As the families of the prisoners, we do not only call out for our own relatives. The problems are growing because the people, who can solve this problem, refuse to do so. This problem is not only ours but also a social problem."
