Non-governmental organizations launched a petition against the blocking of the accounts of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) that received Treasury aid. 76 institutions and 2 thousand 393 names signed within the scope of the campaign. Non-governmental organizations running the campaign made a written statement about the campaign. Stating that the blocking of HDP's accounts is worrisome, the statement said, "In our country, which has a very bad record of closing political parties, a constitutional amendment was made in 2010 with a referendum, the provisions of the law on the closure of political parties were changed, and it is now possible for parties to decide to close or deprive them of treasury aid. was tied to more severe conditions. In this context, a simple majority was not sufficient for the Constitutional Court to decide to dissolve a political party or to deprive it of treasury aid, and a minimum 2/3 majority requirement was also introduced.

 

CONSTITUTIONAL PROCEDURES WERE IGNORED

 

In the statement, which stated that the Constitutional Court ignored the constitutional and legal procedures during the making of the decision, “In the closure case, which was opened under the political pressure of the AKP-MHP, the legal processes are now forced as a result of the open and overt pressure on the court, without waiting for the outcome of the case, and even defense in this matter. A decision was made that would cause the HDP to not be able to carry out its election campaigns properly. This decision of the Supreme Court will not only cause the HDP to participate in the elections at a disadvantage, but will also violate the right of all voters to vote freely and be informed about it. It is clear that an election to be held within the limits of this decision cannot be a fair and democratic election in accordance with the principle of equality."
