The Diyarbakır Governor's Office issued a written statement days later about the police officers who tortured 14-year-old Y.D. in Lice district. The governor's office noted that the news on some news sites that Y.D. had died had "distortion and provocation purposes".

 

Noting that 5 police officers were detained and suspended from duty, the governor's office stated the following: “On March 21, 2023, a 14-year-old boy named Y. D., who was exposed to a blow, applied to a hospital in the city center; He was discharged one day after his treatment. An investigation was started on the same day by the Lice Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident. On March 25, 2023, a commissioner and four police officers under the command of the Lice District Police Headquarters were detained and then transferred to the judicial authorities. In addition, the 5 police in question were suspended from duty and an administrative investigation was initiated against them. The incident is being investigated in all its aspects.”
