ANKARA - Ferit Ak's request to be transferred to a prison close to his family has not been answered for 4 years.

 

Ferit Ak, who was arrested 4 years ago in the Pîrsus (Suruç) district of Riha(Urfa) and sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison for "being a member of a terrorist organization", has requested a referral from Sincan No. 2 Type F Prison, where his family resides, to Riha and a nearby city, but no response is given. Stating that there are no institutions and officials that he has not applied to so far, on the condition of meeting his expenses, Ak stated that he has not been referred for reasons such as "the capacity is full". Ak, the father of four children, stated that both he had economic difficulties and that the family, who traveled many kilometers for sight, faced the risk of an accident every time.

 

REQUEST FOR REFERRAL TO THE CITY CLOSE TO HIS FAMILY

 

Stating that he did not have the strength to endure both spiritually and economically, Ak said that he was exhausted during this time. Addressing the sensitive public, Ak demanded that Riha, his family's residence, be transferred to a prison in cities such as Mereş(Maraş), Dilok(Antep), Adana and Osmaniye.
