NEWS CENTER - In the commemorations for those who lost their lives in the Pirsûs Massacre, "Their dream has become the dream of millions. Those who wanted to bury their dreams in this garden were mistaken. Their comrades are fighting for their dreams.”

33 young people who lost their lives as a result of the bomb attack of ISIS on July 0, 2015 in Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha(Urfa) were commemorated on the 8th anniversary of the massacre. Commemorative events were held in Pirsûs, where the massacre took place, and in the cities where there are cemeteries.

COMMEMORATION WHERE THEY ARE MURDERED

A commemoration program was held for 33 young people known as "dream travelers" in the garden of Amara Cultural Center, where they were murdered. Green Left Party MPs, non-governmental and legal organizations, political party executives and many people attended the commemoration led by the Suruç Families Initiative. The crowd gathered in front of the HDP Pirsûs District Organization building and marched to the Amara Cultural Center. After the march in which the slogans "Youth will hold the account of the murderers" were shouted, roses were left in the area where the massacre took place. The slogans "Suruç martyrs are immortal" were chanted frequently. In the commemoration, photographs of 33 "Dream Travelers" were carried.

Speaking at the commemoration that started after the moment of silence, Senem Nur Pektaş, a member of the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF), said: "We met here 8 years ago, we said we will build Kobanê together. They brutally took our friends from us here. They wanted to leave our dreams unfinished. They could not prevent this dream by killing them. 8 years later, we call freedom to the Kurdish nation again. Their dream is to bury their dreams in the garden of Suruç. We will continue to flow together in the river of revolution."

'REVOLUTION CONTINUES'

Soner Çiçek, one of the injured during the massacre, said: "Our dreams were intended to be buried here, but our ideas sprouted here. The 33s met here to reach out to the Rojava Revolution. The revolution continues. We will defend the revolution to the end, just like the 33s. After the Suruç massacre, injustices are knee-deep, counting. The struggle of the Şenyaşar family, who fought for justice in Suruç is our struggle. We will continue to make their dreams come true.

'THERE WAS NO POLICE THAT DAY'

Yasemin Boyraz, whose mother lost her mother Nazegül Boyraz in the massacre, said: "The police attacked us after the massacre. This place is between two police stations. The police who called us today did not search the ISIS members that day. Their murder was shown to be defective. Abdullah, who had a flag in his bag after the massacre. Ömer Aslan was released from the back door by the police after his beard was cut off. Despite everything, we traveled thousands of kilometers for 8 years and came here to the hearings."

'EVERYONE WILL BE JUDGED'

Kemal Yüksekyayla, director of the Riha Medical Chamber from the Riha Labor and Democracy Platform, recalled what happened after the massacre and said that the real perpetrators have not been found for 8 years. Riha Bar Association President Abdullah Öncel said: "We could not protect our 33 young people, the barbaric ISIS committed a massacre. And everyone who steered the ISIS policy at that time will be brought to justice, we will fight until we do this. This is our promise to the 33 young people. We will follow the struggle for justice until the end. We could not protect them, but we will bring justice for them."
