ŞIRNEX - Speaking at his party's congress, Şirnex MP Nevroz Uysal Aslan touched upon the fact that the name HEDEP was not accepted by the Supreme Court and said: "As long as there is this spirit of resistance and hope in our people, our struggle will continue regardless of the name of the party."

People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) Cizîr District Organization held its 2nd Extraordinary Congress in Şirnex(Şırnak). The congress, which took place in the Martyr Orhan Doğan Conference Hall in the party building, was attended by HEDEP Şirnex MPs Newroz Uysal Aslan, Zeki İrmez, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and HEDEP provincial and district administrators, Peace Mothers Council members, activists of the Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), executives of the Association of Those Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Mesopotamia (MEBYA-DER), Silopiye Municipality Co-Mayor Süleyman Şavluk, Confederation of Public Employees' Unions (KESK) Şirnex Platform components, Human Rights Association (İHD) Şirnex Branch managers, Cizîr Municipality Co-Mayor Berivan Kutlu, who was replaced by a trustee, and Hezex Municipality Co-Mayor Murat Şen, as well as many people.

The congress, which started with a moment of silence, then continued with the election of the council.

'WE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY'

HEDEP Şirnex MP Nevroz Uysal Aslan, who spoke first at the congress, stated that many of their parties have been closed down in their struggle for democracy since the 1990s and said: "Although our parties are closed, our struggle continues with new parties. Our struggle will continue until the Kurdish issue is resolved. We paid a lot of prices along the way, such as arrests and massacres. We bow with respect to our people who paid the price for this cause. They put all the pressure and difficulties on those of us who seek a free life and want to leave our people helpless. But we know that our people are strong and hopeful. That's why they participate in the work."

Uysal Aslan, who said that all the people of Kurdistan have their eyes and ears on Botan, said: “The state also knows this. For this reason, they want to corrupt our people through drugs and prostitution. But our people are also fighting against this. It continues its struggle against them by increasing its organization day by day. We will make this struggle even bigger. We will work together with our people until we build a free life."

'THERE IS A SPIRIT OF RESISTANCE AND HOPE'

Finally, drawing attention to the name HEDEP not being accepted by the Supreme Court, Uysal Aslan said: “They are talking about changing the name of our party. As long as our people have this spirit of resistance and hope, our struggle will continue, regardless of the name."

Following the speeches, activity and economic reports were read. Following the reports submitted to the votes of the delegates, voting began to determine the new management. As a result of the election, Yılmaz Sanrı and Deniz Yıldırım were elected as HEDEP Cizîr District Co-chairperson.

The congress ended with the slogans "Biji Serok Apo(Long live leader Abdullah Öcalan)" and "Jin, jiyan, azadi".
