NEWS CENTER - The final declaration of the conference organized by Yazidi women at the European Parliament in Brussels has been announced.

A one-day conference was held yesterday in the European Parliament with the support of the Umbrella Organization of Yazidi Women's Assemblies (SMJÊ) and the Center for the Unity of Yazidi Associations. At the conference, the massacres experienced by Yazidis, the 74th decree issued by ISIS in 2014, the construction of autonomous administration in Shengal, returns to Shengal and the ongoing attacks were discussed.

At the conference, it was demanded that the United Nations and the Hague International War Crimes Tribunal take action and that the tragedy experienced by the Yazidis be officially recognized as genocide.

After the conference, a 15-item final declaration was announced:

"* We call on international organizations, especially the United Nations and the Hague International War Crimes Tribunal, to investigate the allegations in the report. The United Nations, the European Parliament and many national parliaments have recognized the atrocities committed in Shengal as genocide. We also call on other parliaments and international organizations. We call on them to officially recognize the genocide. We also demand that states and institutions that recognize the genocide take action to prosecute those responsible. International efforts must be made to release the thousands of Yazidi women and children currently held by ISIS. In addition, they are forced to leave their places in the 74th edict. Existing obstacles must be removed so that the Yazidis living in difficult conditions can return to their lands.

*We demand that PDK be called to stop the steps that make it difficult for the Yazidis to return through different means. We call on all international powers to support the compensation of war damages, the clearing of mines in the camps mined by gangs, and the reconstruction of the destroyed city of Sinjar.

*There has been no investigation or trial against the countries that support the terrorist organization ISIS, especially Turkey. This situation is not only shameful but also paves the way for new massacres. We attach importance to the report titled "State Responsibility and Yazidi Genocide" published by the Yazidi Justice Committee (YJC) in July 2022.

*The conference salutes the countries that recognize the 74th edict as genocide and calls on them to stop the attacks of the Turkish state through politics, diplomacy and law.

*The conference calls on the UN and the European Parliament (EP) to quickly investigate the events against the Yazidis in 2014 and thereafter through an international court or forum and to prosecute those responsible for the Yazidi massacre.

*The conference calls on the UN, the Iraqi government and the European Parliament to cancel the concept of the destruction of the Yazidis and the continuation of feminicide through the October 9 agreement due to geostrategic interests, seeing it as a continuation of genocide and feminicide, and to seek a solution with the Yazidi organizations and institutions in Shengal.

* The conference calls on UN Women and the European Union Women's Commission to identify Yazidi women and girls through special investigations in the countries where they are trafficked and to take legal action on this issue.

*The conference calls on the European Parliament to designate August 3 as the day of feminicide against women so that future massacres against women are not included in geostrategic and geopolitical calculations.

*At the conference, it calls on the states that recognize the 74th edict against the Yazidis as genocide to ensure the right of the Yazidis to self-determination within the borders of federal Iraq.

*In order for the Yazidis to live safely in their places and regions, there is a need to repair the infrastructure that was damaged in 2014.

*The conference sees Yazidis, and especially Yazidi women, as captives in the camps in Southern Kurdistan, and calls on the PDK to stop making threats and holding Yazidis captive, and to allow the people of Shengal to return to their own lands.

*The conference calls for a ban on warplanes flying over Sinjar and for controlling and stopping drone attacks on civilians.

*The conference calls for abandoning the policy of restricting and criminalizing all kinds of Kurdish politics, self-government and organizations in Europe and the world, and portraying the resistance to Shengal's freedom as 'terrorist activities'.

*The conference calls on UNESCO to accept the cultural and historical ruins of the Yazidis as World Heritage and to work for their protection in relevant international mechanisms.

*The conference calls for the official acceptance of the Yazidi faith throughout the world, especially in Iraq."
