WAN - Citizens in Wan, outraged by the murder of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after her disappearance, reacted to the impunity policy with the words “This system must end”.

The lifeless body of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in Çulî neighborhood of Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır), was found on September 8 in a stream near the neighborhood. Following the discovery of the body, 24 people, including family members, were detained, while reactions to the incident continue. Citizens in Wan (Van) reacted to the policy of impunity.

'WE HAVE NO LIFE SAFETY'

Pointing out that they have no life safety and that massacres of women are increasing day by day, Bilcan Dik said: “There are murders of women every day. There is almost no day without a massacre. Why has society degenerated so much? What has pushed us to such social decay? These reasons need to be investigated and brought to a conclusion.”

Stating that the perpetrators are protected by impunity policies, “One of the reasons for these massacres is the state and economic policies. Theft, money laundering, and massacres of women, children, nature and animals are always practiced with impunity. These crimes should be severely punished so that people will no longer turn to crime. Crimes are committed in the country, but the perpetrators are free to walk around. When this happens, the perpetrator is not afraid of committing a crime. The latest example is Narin. She was brutally murdered. Narin was killed by her own family. These massacres should no longer be covered up. You cannot say 'have children' to a society that does not protect children. First punish the perpetrators, fix the society, create a safe environment for that child. Then make a statement 'have children'. This country is not safe, we must face the facts now” she said.

'THIS SYSTEM MUST END'

Sinan Ertuş said that hundreds of children and women were murdered in the geography they live in and said: “The killing of children, the elderly and women is condoned. This persecution has been going on for years. Our conscience is never clear for Narin. If we look at the statements of HUDA-PAR, I think of very different things. Now these massacres have become normalized. A child was not found for 19 days. Because this situation was covered up by everyone and the truth was distorted. There was silence for the people who were massacred. Laws are not carried out within the framework of justice. Especially not in the geography we live in. Narin will neither be the first nor the last. Hundreds of people, children and women, were murdered during this government period. But no one raised a voice. They will cover up the Narin incident in a few weeks. Our hearts are burning. They do not punish their own supporters, but they call anyone who speaks out against the wrongs of the system a 'terrorist'. This system must come to an end.”

REACTION TO IMPUNITY

Reacting to the policy of impunity, Yavuz Oflas said: “The current system is not a good system. For 19 days Narin was on the agenda of the whole country. All of our eyes and ears were in Amed. Her family is silent, the citizens in the village are silent. This is not only the case of Narin Güran, thousands of children have been murdered in this way in the country. No matter who they are, the state needs to give them severe punishment in the court of law. If there is a serious legal regulation, these massacres can be prevented. Everything has become child's play. A man kills his wife and is not punished. He kills his child and is not punished. We cannot get anywhere with the system of 'take the perpetrators, keep them inside for 5 months and then let them go'. The consequences of this would be severe.”

Stating that the rights of children, women and animals have been eliminated, Haci Tunç said: “The politics of the current government is rotten. It leaves murderers and thieves unpunished. They will also let 8-year-old Narin's killer go unpunished. What was 8-year-old Narin's crime? The state is trying to arrest the poor while letting the rich go.”
