AMED - Speaking at the public meeting, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır said, "As long as the Kurdish issue is not solved under the leadership of Mr Öcalan, everywhere is struggle and resistance for us." DBP Co-Chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said, "The solution is clear, open the gates of İmralı and ensure the freedom of Mr Öcalan."

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) held a mass public meeting in Amed (Diyarbakır) before its 7th Ordinary Congress to be held in Ankara on 12 December.  DBP Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Co-Chair Murat Çepni, Socialist Re-Liberation Party (SYKP) Co-Chair Mertcan Titiz, DEM Party municipality co-mayors as well as representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations from many cities attended the meeting held in a wedding hall in the city.

In the hall where the meeting was held, there were signs written in Kurmanji and Kırmançkî dialects of Kurdish: "Open the doors of İmralı, let democracy and freedoms come to the fore", "Opening the democratic solution to the Kurdish issue and ensuring peace depends on the freedom of Mr Abdullah Öcalan", "If the youth is strong in a society, the future of that society will be strong", "A nation that oppresses other nations cannot be free", "Jin, jiyan, azadî against the special war", "Organise yourself, strengthen the will of the solution", "To defend Rojava is to defend humanity" and "We started young, we will succeed young" banners were hung.

The meeting started with halay chants and slogans such as "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)", "Be Serok jiyan nabe (Without Leader there is no life)" and "Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)".

After a minute of silence, a cinevision was shown. Afterwards, DBP Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır made speeches.

Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar started her speech by commemorating Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez who were murdered on 9 January 2013 in Paris, the capital of France, and Sêvê Demir, Pakize Nayır and Fatma Uyar who were murdered on 4 January 2016 in Silopiya district of Şirnex. Stated that they inherited the struggle from women.

'THE PEOPLE WON, NOT THE COLLAPSE PLAN'

Stating that as a party they have carried out serious work for a year, "Our main issue is the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue and the lifting of the isolation on Mr Öcalan. We succeeded. The solution of the Kurdish issue and Mr Öcalan's paradigm have been discussed in Turkey for days. We discussed together what needs to be done to change the century-old system. If isolation is on the agenda, this is the success of our people who did not give up the struggle," said Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and added: "In the road map of the current government, there was a claim to eliminate the Kurdish reality and create a submissive people. The point we have reached is obvious. The struggle of the peoples won, not the 'collapse plan'."

RESISTANCE WILL CONTINUE

Speaking afterwards, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır drew attention to the actions and events they organised in 2024. Underlining that they will continue their struggle and resistance until Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is ensured, "We bow to the struggle of the Kurdish people. Despite all the difficult conditions and circumstances, we started this move in 2024 despite all the difficulties. At the end of 2024, the messages of Mr Abdullah Öcalan are being discussed. But we want to underline one thing. The Kurdish people's leader said that the isolation of Mr Ömer Öcalan continues. This is a warning to us, this is a justification for struggle. As long as the Kurdish issue is not solved under the leadership of Mr Öcalan, struggle and resistance are everywhere for us," said Bayındır.

Referring to the discussions on the Kurdish issue, Bayındır continued as follows: "None of our friends should be confused. Our engagement is the Kurdish People's Leader Mr Abdullah Öcalan. Apart from that, no speeches with manipulations on television are worth anything. We will be after Mr Öcalan, after our mothers, after our heroic youth. The conditions for freedom have been created in Kurdistan. Patriotism has emerged in the Middle East. As patriots, we call out to all the forces of Kurdistan; the Kurdish people will ensure their gains, status and unity. This is the time for unity, alliance and negotiations. Let's show our friends and enemies the alliance that the mothers in Kurdistan have been longing for years and the Kurds have been longing for years. Let us reach freedom. We will continue our struggle until success and freedom. Either success, either success, either success..."
