ŞIRNEX - The delegation travelling to the Federated Kurdistan Region to receive the funeral of journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin has been held at the Habur Border Gate in Silopiya for 16 hours.
A delegation consisting of the families and representatives of civil society organizations to take the funeral of journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed by Turkish UCAV attacks in North and East Syria, went to Habur Border Gate in Silopiya (Silopi) district of Şirnex (Şırnak) yesterday to go to the Federated Kurdistan Region. The delegation, including Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Mêrdîn (Mardin) MP Kamuran Tanhan, Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG), Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), representatives of non-governmental organizations and families, has been kept waiting at the border gate for 16 hours with the claim that "the X-ray device is broken and there is no system".
The delegation is expected to receive the funeral of the journalists at the Sêmalka border crossing between the Federated Kurdistan Region and North and East Syria.
It is reported that only trucks are allowed to pass through the border gate, while other citizens are not allowed to pass. A one kilometre queue was formed at the gate due to the vehicles being kept waiting.
According to the information obtained, Silopi police officials stated that the delegation will be allowed to pass at 9.00 pm after they register their passports.
