Co-mayors of Akdeniz Municipality, Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Aslan, who were detained during house raids in Mersin on 10 January, were arrested by a judge yesterday. The Ministry of Interior announced that a trustee was appointed to the municipality.

 

Earlier in the day, a warrant of arrest was issued for Akdeniz Municipality Co-Mayors Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Arslan, as well as municipality council members Özgür Çağlar, Hikmet Bakırhan and Neslihan Oruç. Municipality Council member Yakup Danış was released on judicial control conditions.
