RIHA - Stating that Abdullah Öcalan is the interlocutor for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır called on the government and the opposition and said, "It is no longer the time for words, it is time to announce a concrete road map and show will."

The "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings" initiated by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) to discuss the messages from the talks with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continued in Riha (Urfa). DBP Co-chair Keskin Bayındır, DEM Party Riha MPs Ömer Öcalan, Ferit Şenyaşar, Dilan Kunt Ayan, members of Riha Peace Mothers Assembly, co-mayors of municipalities, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organisations as well as many citizens attended the meeting held at Riha Bar Association Lawyer Tahir Elçi Conference Hall.

Speaking after the minute of silence, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır said, "Today we are at a historical threshold. We are in the second year of the earthquake. The biggest cause of the destruction in the earthquake was the rent politics of the government. We are still experiencing the consequences of this. At the time of the earthquake, our two small municipalities mobilised to heal the earthquake wounds. With the will of the peoples in Kurdistan, we have healed our wounds to some extent. This government discriminated both during and after the earthquake. The people of Kurdistan mobilised against these divisions."

‘ROJAVA MODEL IS SUITABLE FOR SYRIA’

Pointing out that historical changes are taking place in the Middle East and Kurdistan, Bayındır said, "Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan drew attention to the third world war in the Middle East. We are now in this war. Our people are struggling to get free from this war. A monist regime is being built with the pressure of Turkey. We see how a genocide policy against the peoples is being implemented. In the Middle East, Syria is the geography where peoples live together. Its name can only be the Democratic Syrian Republic. This model is not far away. Rojava is right next to us. For 13 years, this model has existed against all pressures. Any other model can lead to disaster. The imposition of a rigid Syrian nation-state brings massacres and migration. Only if democratic Syria becomes sovereign will the problems end. We need to spread this model to the whole world. It is our duty to do this."

Referring to the talks between PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the DEM Party Imrali Delegation, Bayındır said, "Since 1 October, there is an issue that we have not been able to name. It is a process developing around the solution of the Kurdish issue. It is important for us to talk about the solution of the Kurdish issue. This is not the first time this is being discussed. Mr Öcalan has expressed his will at least 13 times until today. There are discussions today because the policy of liquidation can no longer work. Under the leadership of Mr Öcalan, our struggle for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue continues to grow. We have come a long way in our struggle for the freedom of Mr Öcalan."

‘THE GOVERNMENT MUST BE CLEAR’

"Everyone has a role to play in the solution of the Kurdish issue" said Bayindir and added, "Everyone must put forward a concrete solution. It is no longer the time for words, it is time to announce a concrete road map and show will. This issue is too important to be exploited. There have been 3 meetings fo far for a democratic solution. Mr Öcalan clearly shared his insistence on a solution with the public throug the delegaiton. We have no doubt that Mr Öcalan is clear, but the government must not sacrifice this to its periodical interests. The Kurdish issue is not an issue that the government can exploit. We are endeavouring to bring the government to this point while expressing our will to resolve this issue."

Underlining that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan pointed to İmralı as the address of the solution in the talks, Bayındır said, "The Kurdish issue was denied in parliament a hundred years ago, that is why parliament is pointed to for the solution. Each party should announce its road map for the solution of the issue. The opposition's monitoring of this process will carrry water for the government's attempt to exploit it. If we leave the solution to the government, the possibility of abuse will be high. Mr Öcalan is the interlocutor, the government should announce who the interlocutor will be and the road map. We are organising meetings for this. We get the biggest power from the people. We are faced with a responsibility that grows the struggle for peace and freedom. Everyone has a duty for the physical freedom of Mr Öcalan. With the discussions to be held in the continuation of this meeting, we will reach the socialisation of peace together."

After the speech the closed-door meeting took place.
