Ömar Öcalan: We will close door to war

SÊRT/QERS- Reacting to the Kobani massacre DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan said, "They are making provocations".

Newroz was celebrated in Cumhuriyet Square in Dihê (Eruh) district of Sêrt (Siirt). The celebration was attended by Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Riha (Urfa) MP Ömer Öcalan, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organisations, co-mayors of municipalities and many citizens.
 
During the celebration, slogans such as "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" and "Newroz pîroz be (Happy Newroz)" were chanted. Citizens entered the are wearing yellow, red and green scarves and traditional clothes and danced for a long time. After dances Newroz fire was lit. 
 
 
Reminding that the war had been going on for years, Öcalan stated that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has sent a message for the re-establishment of brotherhood and the state must also see the extended hand of peace. 
 
Öcalan pointed out that the democratic system mentioned by Abdullah Öcalan will be a strong model in the Middle East and said, "We will close the door to war. The democratic system is a new life for all peoples. Mr Öcalan is working for this, for you. But they are making provocations. Yesterday morning, 7 children, their mothers and fathers were killed in a house in Kobani. How can this people accept this? Kurds do not accept killing and massacre. These provocations and massacres must ne cancelled."
 
The Newroz celebration ended with the artists taking the stage and dances.

Newroz fire was lit in Dîgor (Digor) district of Qers (Kars). Hundreds of people attended the celebration in the town square. Speaking after the entrance to the area, DEM Party MP Yılmaz Hun said, "Our people paid great price for the free celebration of Newroz. Today, Newroz fire is burning in 4 parts of Kurdistan. This fire will burn until we regain our freedom."
 
DEM Party Sêrt MP Sabahat Erdoğan Sarıtaş stated that they are going through a historical process and said, "This Newroz, Mr Abdullah Öcalan's call for peace came. He gave a great good news. This call has a historical significance. It is an honourable call for all peoples. If the Kurdish problem is solved, all economic and political problems will be solved."
 
After the speeches, Peace Mothers lit the Newroz fire. After the lighting of the Newroz fire, a local artist group took the stage. Citizens danced with the slogans "Jin, jiyan, azadî".
