ÇEWLÎG – DBP Co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar attended the Çewlîg Newroz and she said, “There is a need for a law that embraces all peoples. What the country needs is the democratic politics and democratic society that Mr Öcalan calls for.”
In Çewlîg (Bingöl), Newroz was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the area next to the State Hospital. People participated in the celebration in their traditional dresses danced for hours. The enthusiasm reached its peak with the arrival of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar. The slogans “Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)” and “Be Serok Jiyan Na be (Without Leader there is no life)” echoed from the area.
DEM Party Çewlîg MP Ömer Faruk Hülak stated that this year’s Newroz is the Newroz of peace and freedom. Drawing attention to the historic call of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Hülakü underlined that the call is not only for Kurds but for all peoples. “We will struggle to fulfill the responsibility of the call,” he said.
NEWROZ FIRE LIT WITH SLOGANS
The Newroz fire was lit by DBP Co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar. The crowd chanted “Bijî Serok Apo” around the fire led by women. Then artist Özlem Bağlayan took the stage.
Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said: “On February 27th, Mr. Öcalan called for the richness of the country, our history and our struggle.”
Emphasizing that a new era has entered with the call of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar added, “When the trustees were appointed, we said together with our people; ‘It will not only come to Kurds. Therefore, the stronger we stand, the more we can prevent it. We said 'let's stand' against isolation. Today we saw that more than 100 people, including the mayor of Istanbul, were detained. We had to start from wherever there is the deepest pain, wherever there is the deepest lawlessness. The silence against Kurdistan has left all of Turkey facing the same oppression today.”
Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said, “On the one hand, you will establish dialogue and make promises about internal peace, on the other hand, you will keep Mr Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Prison. This is not possible. The ‘right to hope’ must be implemented. The government must take such steps that is must strengthen new steps.”
The celebration ended with dances and slogans.
