AMED - Addressing hundreds of thosands of people in Amed, Sebahat Tuncel called on the government to "open the roads of democratic politics" and said, "We want to see Leader Apo here."

The Newroz celebration in Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır) with the slogans "Rêbertiya Azad Civaka Demokratîk (Free Leader, Democratic Society)" and "Democratic Society for Freedom" continues with all the enthusiasm with the participation of hundreds of thousands. After Arhat took the stage, Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) activist Sebahat Tuncel spoke.

Pointing out that the government is blocking the way for democratic politics, Sebahat Tuncel reminded the statements of Devlet Bahçeli and said, "There is no step in this regard. The space for democratic politics is narrowing. They detained İmamoğlu. Whoever talks about peace and freedom, they threaten with arrest and violence. How will we make peace?"

Sebahat Tuncel said, "We warn the government. Open the way for democratic politics. The freedom of the Kurdish people is the freedom of Mr Öcalan. Our job is not easy, it is difficult. But we are people who accomplish difficult things. Whatever we have created so far, we have created it by resisting. Greetings once again to those who resisted."

'JIN, JIYAN, AZADI IS THE PHILOSOPHY OF FREEDOM'

Sebahat Tuncel said, "Women's struggle for freedom is the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom. However, we are also struggling against the male-dominated system. Society cannot be free without women being free. That is why the voices of 'jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)' are raised all over the world. This slogan is the philosophy of freedom. We salute our women comrades in the struggle for freedom. Women will resist to open the road to freedom and peace for Mr Öcalan."

Sebahat Tuncel stressed: "We want to see Leader Apo here. We want to see him on the walls of Amed. As Kurds, we want to be equal citizens. As Alevis, we want to be equal citizens. We want to live equally and freely with the peoples of the Middle East. We invite you all to struggle and resistance."
