AMED - "New legislation is needed. There is a need for Mr Öcalan's freedom" said DBP Co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar in Amed Newroz.

Amed Newroz continues with all enthusiasm with the participation of hundreds of thousands. Grup Avna took the stage at the Newroz celebration organized with the slogans "Rêbertiya Azad Civaka Demokratîk (Free Leader, Democratic Society)" and "Democratic Society for Freedom".

Guests from the Federated Kurdistan Region greeted the masses. In the messages, the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was demanded and Newroz was celebrated. Then Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar spoke. Starting her speech in Kirmançki dialect of Kurdish, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar congratulated the Newroz os all Kurdistan. Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar commemorated the martyrs of Newroz.

'ÖCALAN MUST BE FREE'

Drawing attention to the call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, she said, "We will build a democratic society together. Since 27 February, there is a new equation in the Middle East. Mr Öcalan is opening a new path by removing the violence experienced in this country from being a fate and the nation state from being a choice. In such a historic call, while everyone was waiting for each other, Mr Öcalan took a step and unlocked the blocked roads and the unsolvability. The most talked about topic in the world and in Turkey for a month is Mr Öcalan's call. The most talked about person is Mr Öcalan. But there are also those who are not talking. We do not know what the government thinks about this issue. Bahçeli says 'we are determined, we will not take a step back'. You are not taking a step forward. You do not respond to the 27 February call. You cannot solve such a historical issue and move forward only by talking about it from the rostrums."

Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said, "As the Kurdish people, we turn our faces to the call of Mr Öcalan. We will protect this call together. While the state and the government have accepted Mr Öcalan as a historical actor; we are not in a process to be wasted. No one should make false calculations. The Kurdish people are giving their message. The Kurdish people will stand upright like the Newroz fire. We will carry the spirit of freedom of Newroz together. Let no one bring a law that is not sufficient for the peoples in Turkey and that we are not part of. New legislation is needed. We need the freedom of Mr Öcalan. Without Mr Öcalan's freedom, there are no conditions for taking courageous steps. This is not a call written in a month. We will defend the call, which has emerged with the labour of decades, together."
