WAN - Speaking at the commemoration programme organised PKK's pioneer cadres Ali Haydar Kaytan and Rıza Altun, Mehmet Şirin Tunç stated that Kaytan and Altun gave their lives for the freedom of the people and said, "They never bowed down".
A commemoration programme was organised in Wan (Van) for Ali Haydar Kaytan and Rıza Altun, two of the PKK's leading cadres, with the participation of thousands of people. In the commemoration organised in the garden of DEM Party Wan provincial building, the banner "This is the will of the one who paved the way to the light, forward always forward!", Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Altun and Kaytan's photos were hung. After a moment of silence, the anthem Çerxa Şoreşê was sung and the slogan "Şehîd namirin (Martyrs will not die)" was chanted. After the formation of the council, speeches began.
Mehmet Şirin Tunç, a member of the "Peace and Democratic Solution Group" who came to Turkey on 1 October 1999 as part of Abdullah Öcalan's call on 22 September 1999 for "support for a democratic republic and a step of goodwill" commemorated Kaytan and Altun.
‘THEY GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THE LIBERATION’
Tunç said, "They gave their lives for the liberation of this people and this land. Even calling Kurdish was forbidden in these lands. But Mr Abdullah Öcalan set out with his friends saying 'Kurdistan is a colony'. From that day until today, the two friends have acted together with Mr Öcalan.”
“Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan opened a path. From that day until today, this people have walked with Mr Öcalan from 7 to 70. They never bowed down" he said.
Stating that they are going through a historical process, Tunç said, "If we fulfil the requirements of the 'Call for Peace and Democratic Society', we will show the power of Kurds to the whole world. The greatest peace is peace between Kurds. Kurds have to ensure this peace. When we bring the Kurdish People's Leader out of the dungeon and welcome him with millions, then this people will fulfil their destiny."
After the speech, Kaytan's poems were played in his own voice. Then a cinevision show and the message sent by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan for Kaytan and Altun was read.
