Parliament Speaker: There will be those who will try to poison process, we are cautious

ANKARA - "There will be those who will try to poison the process, we are cautious," Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus said on the process launched to resolve the Kurdish issue.

Speaking at a meeting with young people at the Parliament within the scope of 19 May events, Speaker of the Parliament Numan Kurtulmus said that more than 40 thousand people had died in the clashes and added: "We will continue on our way as Turkey together with its Turkish, Kurdish and different ethnic elements. We will build a strong Turkey together."

Stating that there are two paths ahead of them, especially since the process that started with the US intervention in Iraq, almost all of the countries in the region have entered a process of great separation, fragmentation and disintegration, he said: "Iraq, Syria has been shattered, Lebanon has become ungovernable, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen have been divided. All the countries in the region were torn apart either through tribalism, ethnic differences or sectarian conflicts, and some of them were torn apart by terrorist organisations by making them parties to a conflict that did not belong to them. Either we would wait for our turn like the yellow ox, that is, we would be torn apart, or the people of Turkey, Turks, Kurds would come together and be together and we would turn this imperialist project upside down. We prefer this path and we continue to move forward on this path".

UNITY EMPHASISED

Stating that Turkey has entered an important road, Kurtulmuş said: "It is our greatest wish and goal that this road will be completed as soon as possible and that the children of this country will continue on their way together, brotherly and shoulder to shoulder. Undoubtedly, we anticipate that the elements who are worried by saying “this will not work” and who are the apparatus of some projects will try to poison this process or try to prevent the process with some provocations. Within this framework, we will take all our precautions and build a Turkey where bombs do not explode anywhere in this country, where people do not fear for their lives, where songs of brotherhood and peace are sung everywhere, and where people act with feelings of unity and solidarity. I hope that with the completion of this process as soon as possible, we will witness together that our path will be clearer and our goals will be more clearly visible."
