NEWS CENTER - Journalist Shaswar Mame said that although Turkey's use of chemical weapons had a negative impact on nature and the public, its investigation was blocked by the KDP.

The economic, social and political crisis is deepening in the Federated Kurdistan Region. The repression and anti-democratic policies of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), the ruling party, are forcing the people to migrate. As a result of the military operations launched by Turkey on April 23 with the support of the KDP, against villages in Avaşîn, Zap and Metîna regions are being evacuated. Thousands of Kurds, due to intertwined crises, are trying to reach Belarus via Turkey and then to Poland and Western Europe. Refugees, mostly from Federated Kurdistan, are waiting at the Belarusian-Polish border in freezing weather conditions. To date, more than 10 refugees have died from hunger and cold.

Journalist Shaswar Mame evaluated the policy of multiple crises and collapse in the Federated Kurdistan Region.

THEY ARE NOT READY FOR A SOLUTION

Referring to the regional government's policies regarding the flow of Kurds to the European border, Mame said, "Thousands of Kurdish citizens are currently on the Belarus-Poland border. The reason for this wave of migration is the injustices and problems experienced in the region. The people of the region cannot claim their right. Those who do have been arrested and lost in recent years. Many activists and journalists were killed in the recent years. All these developments caused despair among the people. Attempts by the people of the region to create change were also thwarted. The ruling party KDP and PUK took the people's independence under their control. These two powers are not ready to solve the problems of the region. They are trying to end the crisis but they are not ready for a solution right now."

PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE FAITH IN THEM ANYMORE

Reminding that the universities or any businesses in the region is under the control of the KDP and PUK, Mame said that there is no peaceful living space for the people. Stating that the people think the only solution is to migrate for a peaceful life, Mame said: " "Every day a new problem is added to the problems in the region. The bills for electricity and water are constantly rising. Apart from that, basic living materials are getting more expensive every day. They do not have a plan or a project. Instead of solving the problems, they constantly blame the people and say, 'There are different forces behind these people,' leading to despair. The majority of the people of the region boycotted the election because they no longer have faith and hope in the elections. They have no faith in any party. They do not see a future in this country and unfortunately they leave Kurdistan to seek a new life."

INSISTANCE ON INJUSTICE

Emphasizing that the government is standing against the people instead of finding solutions to solve the crisis, Mame said, "The people are no longer satisfied with the government. Everything was clearly seen in the October 10 elections. The elections were the clearest indication that the people no longer accept or want this management approach. They want a dignified life. But unfortunately, until now, no conditions have been created for the people of the region to establish a living space of their own. Thus, despair grows. Not only the young, but also the elderly migrated. It also damages Kurdistan's prestige. Unfortunately, the government of Kurdistan is not ready to take responsibility for this crisis and make some changes. The government insists on injustice and theft. The people do not believe that regional parties can bring about a change."

'TURKEY IS COMMITTING A CRIME'

Stating that the entire region has been depopulated with the operations, Journalist Mame said, "Within the scope of Turkey's operations against Bashure Kurdistan, there have been many violations of rights in the region so far. While these operations ignore the autonomy of Iraq and the government, they also violate the laws of war. Behdinan and many areas of Hewlêr are occupied. As a result of these operations, many civilians lost their lives, many were injured, and hundreds more were displaced and dozens of villages were occupied. The cutting of the trees in these areas has damaged the entire region. The government did not take a clear stance against the Turkish occupation. Only human rights organizations are investigating the situation in the region."

CHEMICAL WEAPONS

Regarding Turkey's use of chemical weapons, Mame said: "Many journalists, writers and intellectuals are investigating this claim. These institutions are investigating in which areas Turkey uses these chemicals. Many documents have been obtained so far regarding the use of chemical weapons. The government does not allow the representatives of international institutions and organizations to closely examine these areas. Anyone who wants to investigate this has been blocked. Iraq and the Bashur government have not yet made a statement on the subject. The impact of these weapons on the nature of the region and on the effected citizens is clear. It is a war crime committed by the Turkish army in the region.”
