İSTANBUL - HDP, which determines the fate of the İBB (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) elections, has completed its congresses in many districts of Istanbul. HDP Provincial Co-Chair Erdal Avcı pointed out that despite all the pressures, the party is embraced strongly by the people in the congresses and said: “Our congresses strengthen us.”

 

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Provincial Organization has completed its congresses in many districts. 

HDP's Istanbul Provincial Co-chair Erdal Avcı, who said that they held the district congresses with great enthusiasm despite all the oppressiın, evaluated the congress process. Expressing that the craze of detention and arrest attacks to their party has started together with the “kneeling” plan targeted to his party was put in practice right after the peace process, Avcı said that they were exposed to the attacks of a systematic oppressive regime. 

 

‘PEOPLE HAVE OVERCOME THE OPPRESSION’

 

Avcı underlined the Intensive and systematic oppression conditionds under which they achieved to make their congresses of party all over Turkey.  Avcı also stated: “There is an appropriation of the part by the people. There are many friends who want to take part in the district management of the party. In this sense, we observe that the public is involved in the processes during this current oppressive period. As the repression increases, the political embracement of our party by our people is increasing. This enthusiasm in our people gives us high hopes for the future. We experienced similar processes in the 1990s. However, in those years, our people eliminated the pressures by embracing their parties against the oppressive policies towards the party. We see the same situation today. The pressures against the party of our peoples are being replied by embracing their parties more.”

 

‘PARTY CONGRESS MAKES US STRONGER’

 

“It was an illusion that our party looked digested under pressure for some reason. March 31 local elections and the renewed Istanbul elections are a good example in this regard.  HDP wrote its name on the pages of the history by a great political standing as to be able to downgrade fascism one-step back. Our party has showed that we it is capable of taking the responsibility to give a respond to the dreams of freedom of society. Now everyone accepts this power of our party. Our strategy in the last local elections have paved the path for a greater democracy alliance. In this sense, our congress is of historical significance."
