RIHA - A mass visit was made to the condolence center in Pirsûs for YJA Star member Binevs Altay, who lost her life in the airstrike against Gare.

 

A condolence was established in Pirsûs (Suruç), the hometown of YJA Star member Binevs Altay (Doga Sin) who lost her life in the airstrike carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces against Gare on 11 January. The condolence service for Binevs Altay, who was announced to have lost her life yesterday, was established in the family house in Yenişehir Neighbourhood Mahsum Street in the centre of Pirsûs and was visited en masse. The mass gathered in front of DEM Party Pirsûs district building and marched to the condolence house with the slogans "Şehîd namirin (Martyrs won't die)", "Ey şehîd xwîna tê erdê namîne (O martyr, your blood will not stay on the ground)". The number of the crowd increased each time they approached the house, reaching thousands. The mass was welcomed with slogans by the families and neighbourhood residents. Photographs of Binevş Altay were carried during the reception.

 

'ÖCALAN PLAYS HIS ROLE'

 

Speaking at the visit which started with a minute of silence, DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan said, "We express our condolences to the family. This is the issue we are talking about. This district has always played its role in the freedom struggle. When Kobani was attacked, the youth of this district turned towards Kobani. They gave an honourable defence and paid the price. For 50 years this struggle has been going on. There are talks these days. Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is playing his role for an honourable peace. However, the sons of this people are being massacred. A solution cannot be found with an attack. Even the place of condolence is obstructed by the governorship and district governorship."

 

'MY DAUGHTER IS THE DAUGHTER OF KURDISTAN'

 

Binevs Altay's father Selami Altay thanked the visitors and said, "My daughter is the daughter of all Kurdistan. If necessary, we will join this struggle. We were not given a condolence place. First we were told ok, then they said no. This is making fun of us. Our people should see this enmity."

 

The visit ended with prayers.
