Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Mesud Barzani met with Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chair Ibrahim Kalın at his residence in Hewlêr's Pirmam district on January 28. Kalın has been holding a series of contacts in both Iraq and Federated Kurdistan for about a week. It is stated that in Kalın's last meeting with Barzani, Turkey's attacks on Zap, Avaşin and Metina in the Federated Kurdistan Region and discussions on the new administration in Kirkuk were brought to the agenda.

In the news provided by Rojnews through its own sources, KDP and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (YNK) were expected to meet on January 31 with the Kirkuk agenda. However, it was reported that the meeting was canceled on the instructions of Massoud Barzani.
