URFA - Urfa Labor and Democracy Platform Term Spokesperson Gökhan Dayık, who will stage the sit-in with the Şenyaşar family today, said: “The family demands justice, not mercy.”

The Justice Watch carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached day 525. The sit-in was launched on  March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018. The mother and her son arrived in front of the Urfa Courthouse from their house in Suruç district early in the morning. The mother and son, who were prevented from sitting in the shade at the entrance of the courthouse by the police, started the sit-in together with the members of the Urfa Labor and Democracy Platform in the "Şenyaşar family justice corner". Platform members will support the family during the sit-in today.

Stating that they were with the family for support, Platform Term Spokesperson Gökhan Dayık said: “The family was unlawfully forbidden to enter the courthouse. The family's demand for justice must be met, not prohibitions. The family's request is clear. The opening of the confidential hospital file, the trial of the perpetrators and the release of Fadıl Şenyaşar, who was kept in a cell. The family demands justice, not mercy. It is not normal to keep confidentiality in the hospital file for 4 years. I do not think that there is a file that has been investigated secretly for 4 years in the history of Turkey. It is clear that there is political pressure or other calculations through the file. Whoever has an account, they should come back from this mistake and do justice."

"THE PRESSURES WILL NOT INTIMIDATE US"

Continuing the sit-in without interruption with his mother, Ferit Şenyaşar said: “Today, we will stage the sit-in together with the labor and democracy platform. There is a clear lawlessness there. Everyone sees this cruelty. There is a mother whose wife and two sons were murdered, and the confidentiality decision continues. The persecution continues as justice is not served. Under this persecution, we cannot stay at home and continue our normal lives. Authorities need to take action as soon as possible. The pressures will not intimidate us. We will not leave the courthouse until justice is served."
