RIHA - Reşit Öcalan, one of the relatives of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, stated that they are waiting for their guests on April 4 and said: "The birthday of president is also the birthday of the people."

A march will be held in the Amara Neighborhood of Riha(Urfa)'s Xelfeti (Halfeti) district, the birthplace of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who was held under aggravated isolation in İmralı Type F Closed Prison, on the occasion of his 74th birthday. Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Families of Prisoners and Convicts Law Solidarity Associations Federation (MED TUHAD FED) participated in the march to be held on April 4 with the slogan “To Amara for Freedom”. In addition to the march, various events will be held in many cities between 1st and 10th of April. The Öcalan family, on the other hand, is excitedly preparing to host their guests.

BOOKWORM

80-year-old Mehmet Reşit Öcalan, who is among those who host Amara guests every year, talked about his cousin Abdullah Öcalan and the event to be held. Stating that the PKK Leader is his uncle's son that they spent their childhood together, Reşit Öcalan said: "When the PKK Leader is child, he was very successful in everything he did. We would all go to harvest wheat together, but no one could reap wheat like him, he was a hard worker. Our fields were side by side. So we would have a lot of conversations. I had a gun, one day I targeted a place, then I handed it to the president (Abdullah Öcalan) and said, 'Take it and throw it, Abdullah'. He took the gun in his hand, but he didn't quite understand it, and he didn't like the gun very much back then. He always read. He is a bookworm. There was a pistachio tree in the field with the vineyards, that was his place. He used to go there all the time and read books.”

'WE ARE PROUD'

Stating that one of his children joined the PKK and lost his life after the establishment of the PKK, Öcalan said: “My younger brother went to the mountains with his family. "We are very proud of what the President has done."

Reşit Öcalan stated that the PKK leader was placed in isolation in İmralı after he was brought to Turkey and they had not heard from him for 2 years. Reşit Öcalan, regarding his concerns about this situation, said: “Neither his family nor his lawyers are allowed to meet. They also violate their own laws. There is no such law in Islam or any other religion. Everyone has the right to see their family and lawyers. The isolation must now be lifted and his family and lawyers must be contacted."

'THEY WANT TO MAKE THE PEOPLES FORGET THE PRESIDENT'

Stating that they wanted to make the PKK leader forget, Öcalan said: “They are preventing people who want to come to Amara. The purpose of the obstacle is to make the peoples forget the president. They want the public to forget as if there is no such person. But they certainly cannot make the Kurdish people forget the President."

Calling for the march to Amara on April 4, Öcalan said: “The birthday of the president is also the birthday of the people. We, as their relatives, are proud to welcome the guests who will come here on April 4th. We ara happy to welcome them. We invite everyone to the village. We invite everyone to welcome the guests of the President."
